I have 2 assistants that help me along the way. There is my Sous Chef, Sydney… who keeps me company on my culinary adventures, and then there is my endearing husband Ross, who is my most valued taste tester and food critic. He always eats what I make him (good and bad recipes), and usually has an interesting take on my meals. I know that I have a winning recipe when I can sneak the healthy ingredients into a dish and I still get his approval for the meal (oblivious of the alteration). If he says “uh ya, you can make that again”, then I know it was a hit. I know I need to make more revisions to a recipe when I receive comments like “what’s that smell?”, “I’ll pass on seconds”, or “Whattt isss thattt?” (as he picks up the food with his fork while turning up his nose and is ready to chuck it under the table with a flick of the wrist). He is 100% reliable in most areas except for dishes that contain legumes (chickpeas & lentils), eggplant, couscous and curries. Other than those ingredients that he despises (thus can not give a reliable critic), he gets the final say on all my recipes. I’ll try to add his comments to each recipe for a little bit of culinary humour!
